    Helpful Information About Hearing Health
When should you see a doctor?

If you experience any of the following, please consult a doctor, preferably an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist).

    • congenital ear difference / unusual ear shape
    • ear injury or deformity
    • drainage
    • pain
    • excessive earwax / blockage
    • severe dizziness / vertigo
    • sudden hearing changes
    • fluctuating hearing
    • poorer hearing in one ear
    • ringing or buzzing in one ear

Some hearing-related symptoms may require more timely professional attention. Please consult a doctor, preferably an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist), or a qualified hearing care professional if you experience any of the following:

    • Sudden or rapidly worsening hearing, especially over a short period of time.
    • A significant difference in hearing between the two ears, or sudden hearing loss in one ear.
    • Persistent ringing or buzzing in one ear, especially when accompanied by changes in hearing.
    • Persistent ear pain, bleeding, pus, or other unusual discharge.
    • Severe dizziness or vertigo, particularly when accompanied by hearing changes.
    • Hearing changes following an injury, impact, or other trauma to the ear or head.
When to Seek Prompt Medical Care
Prompt professional evaluation can help identify possible causes and determine the appropriate next step.
Timely professional intervention helps identify the root cause of hearing problems, prevent the condition from further deteriorating, and protect your auditory health.
When should you see a doctor?

If you experience any of the following situations, it is recommended that you consult an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist) or hearing professional in a timely manner for professional examination and evaluation

    • Sudden hearing loss, or significant hearing deterioration within a short period (e.g., within 1 week)
    • Hearing in one ear is significantly poorer than the other, or you can only hear sounds with one ear
    • Persistent tinnitus (abnormal noises such as buzzing or cicada-like sounds in the ear) that affects daily work and rest
    • Recurrent ear pain, itching, or discharge of unknown fluids (such as blood, pus, etc.)
    • Ear pain, deformation, or sudden hearing changes caused by trauma (e.g., impact, explosion)

    • Children show slow response to sounds and significantly delayed language development compared with peers of the same age

    Tips for Hearing Protection

    • Keep the volume at a comfortable level.
When using headphones or earbuds, avoid listening at high volume for long periods and give your ears regular breaks.
    • Use hearing protection around loud noise.
Wear properly fitted earplugs or earmuffs around power tools, concerts, construction sites, fireworks, and other loud environments.
    • Avoid putting objects deep into your ears.
Do not insert cotton swabs, ear picks, or other objects into the ear canal. If earwax becomes excessive or uncomfortable, consider professional removal.
    • Give your ears time to recover.
After prolonged exposure to loud sounds, spend some time in a quieter environment.
    • Pay attention to changes in your hearing.
If you notice sudden, persistent, or one-sided hearing changes, consider speaking with a qualified hearing care professional.
